I came on board to help out with this public arts project to activate Karangahape Road spaces. I didn't know who I would be collaborating with but at the first meeting with the Piki Toi collective, a connection naturally evolved. This was also my first experience doing a mural and we all worked together in a unique situation of live painting on unusual surfaces, at night, in a public environment with engagement from all kinds of passers-by. Most people were regulars of the street and recognised the life and interest the project adds to the street. For me the co-operative collaboration working in situ with the materials we had and dynamic conditions was a great learning.
